Peer Group
Are there any PrintPoint customers in the 4-10 million dollar sales range that might be interested in joining a Peer Group? Baltimore Color Plate has been involved with one for quite some time and find it VERY valuable. We meet 3x year and share full disclosure amongst the members. We currently have 9 members scattered across the country and looking to add 1 or 2 new members. If you have anyone who might be interested please let me know.

Thanks,
Randy Dorman

Success Story: Baltimore Color Plate

Baltimore Color Plate opened its doors in 1984 as a Prepress Trade Shop offering color separation and stripping services. As we grew so did our need for a MIS solution. Our first system was the Covalent system and we eventually moved into the Logic System. Though both systems had their pros and cons I eventually grew tired of the tedious and expensive hardware and software upgrades. I wanted a simpler solution.

As the prepress business began to die we eventually became printers and this is when I began my search for a new system. I needed the system to operate on Mac and PC and be very intuitive. That's when I met Morrie at a trade show in 1995. He introduced me to PrintPoint and gave me a demo copy and I was on my way. I could actually setup everything myself without too much training and guidance. We wanted a system we could tailor reports, job tickets, and any custom forms we needed without paying expensive programming fees or extensive training. The one thing I missed was data collection when we first installed the system, but it wasn't long before that was added.

We now have an 18 user licenses with cross platform, data collection, and use the copy module, which was new for us since we added digital printing a year ago. We even built our own server so we could have the best system we wanted at a lower cost. It's been 12 years of a great product and great support from Morrie and Jesse.

Success Stories

We want to thank Brooks Lito, Smith Digital and Baltimore Color Plate for contributing to our newsletter in the Success Stories section. This is a good way to let others know you're out there and your capabilities. It's also a good way to begin a trade relationship with other PrintPointers.
We're always looking for similar input from any of our users. If you're interested in adding your name to the newsletter just send an email to Jesse and he'll get you published.

Customer Tax Percentage

In PrintPoint 5.1 we change the way in which tax is applied to an invoice. In previous versions of PrintPoint the tax percentage was stored in the customer record. This will not be the case in PrintPoint 5.1. The tax will be applied by looking at the Customer Tax Code then looking at the Tax Percentage used for that code. This will be a seemless process to you, the users. However, if you have your Customer List View setup to include the Tax Rate field this might be confusing. PrintPoint will no longer have the Tax Rate field in the Cutomer Record so what gets displayed could be in acurate. If this applies to you, please call Tech Support and we will help to remove the Tax Rate field from your PrintPoint structure.
