Success Story: G Force Printing and Design

G Force Printing & Design is a small-medium offset printing business located in Perth, Western Australia, with approximately 8 staff. When I took over G Force Printing a year ago, all estimating, job management and associated functions were undertaken manually. Coming from outside the printing industry, I knew I would need a comprehensive software package to enhance customer service and better manage the business to drive the growth and efficiencies we are aiming for. In addition, I wanted the software to be customisable to the way we run our business, rather than an 'off-the-shelf' product with limited adaptability.

PrintPoint has been - without a doubt - the most important and useful investment we have made for the business and more than satisfied the criteria I had when selecting software. PrintPoint manages virtually everything associated with the business including estimating/quoting, production of detailed job bags, job monitoring, purchasing, shipping, invoicing, reporting and more.

Every day we are improving the way we utilise the software and are discovering more and more features of PrintPoint that we quickly implement to drive our performance - for example, the most recent enhancement was setting up the shipping/despatch reports and labels (which already is saving us time). Installing and setting up the software has dramatically enhanced my understanding of printing and job management. The next phase for us is to adapt the powerful reporting functions within PrintPoint and to integrate this with our accounting package for management reporting and decision-making. In addition, we would like to introduce barcode scanning to track jobs in real time for improved customer service and to establish the stock control and ordering function.

The technical support is always exceptional - even when I have a problem on a Sunday afternoon I can call Peter (on the East Coast) and more often than not he's working on a solution to someone's problem around the country and can assist straight away.

Since implementing PrintPoint less than a year ago we haven't looked back - now that we have it, I'm not sure how we could have ever operated without it.

News and Notes

Field Names

Because of the New Features added to PrintPoint 5.1 we have had to change the names of some of the fields. For most users this change will have little or no impact. For those of you using SuperReports Invoices and Purchase Orders, the tax field names will have to be changed. This is a very quick and minor change and will have no adverse effects on the rest of PrintPoint.

Call tech support and we will be glad to help you change the field name on the SuperReport.

Error Code 79.00FE

I have had a couple of question regarding an error code that a couple of user get on their HP Printer. This error code is displayed on the printer and not via a pop-up window on the computer. It can occur when printing from any application installed on your computer. I've done some research on the web and found that the issue is most likly related to the jet direct card on the printer. If you're having this issue a good place to find out more is at http://www.fixyourownprinter.com. The site is full of good information that might help you to solve any other issues related to printing problems.
